Digital literacy skills help them navigate today’s technological environment, workplace skills help them find and thrive in a career, and financial literacy skills help them manage their money well. Reentry Essentials™ is a set of 3 self-paced courses that teach the essential skills necessary to reduce your recidivism rates.
- Computer Essentials™ teaches the critical computer and internet skills needed for work and life.
- Work Essentials™ teaches employability skills to start a career and advance in a role.
- Money Essentials™ teaches vital money management skills for a financially stable future.
COMPUTER ESSENTIALS
Computer Essentials™ begins by teaching the basic skills needed to navigate a computer and the internet, such as keyboarding, opening and closing windows, scrolling, and navigating menus. It then moves on to more advanced skills, such as communication, word processing, digital citizenship, and job-finding. Students earn digital badges from Credly as they pass their unit quizzes to award their achievements. This course fully aligns with IC3 GS6 level 1 targets and concludes with a final assessment. Upon completion, students receive a Certificate of Achievement to demonstrate to employers that they have mastered the core skills needed to be confident, successful employees.
Over 110 lessons, activities, and assessments in three units:
- Computing Fundamentals: Basic computer skills starting with how to get started using a computer, then moving on to more complex skills.
- Key Applications & Information: Finding information on the internet, and then organizing, interpreting, and showing the information accurately.
- Living Online: The basics of social interactions in online communities and privacy and security on the internet.
WORK ESSENTIALS
Work Essentials™ is a self-paced course designed to teach the employability skills needed to enter and succeed in today's workforce. From writing a good resume to making a good impression during an interview, students are taught the critical skills required to excel in their careers, such as problem-solving, professionalism, and good communication. As they move through the course, they'll earn digital badges and certifications to reward their progress and showcase their achievements to potential employers.
Over 90 lessons, activities, and quizzes in 3 modules:
- Job Seeking: Teaches the essential skills needed to search for a job and find work.
- Job Ready: Teaches the high-demand work habits employers seek in new hires.
- Job Keeping: Teaches critical soft skills, including problem-solving, communication, and organization, to become valued employees who excel in their careers.
MONEY ESSENTIALS
Money Essentials™ is a self-paced course designed to help students take control of their financial situation. Using real-life scenarios, students learn the money management skills necessary to make smart financial decisions. From creating a budget and setting financial goals to obtaining credit and applying for loans, this course gives students the tools they need for a financially stable future. Upon passing the final assessment included with this course, students receive a Certificate of Achievement to show employers they have mastered these skills.
Over 20 lessons, activities, and quizzes in four units:
- Budgets: How to build, follow, and adjust a budget.
- Loans: Types of loans and how to avoid predatory loans and scams.
- Financial Goals: Determining and prioritizing financial goals, creating an action plan, and tracking and revising financial goals.
- Credit: Types of credit, credit scores, how to make good credit decisions, and avoid scams.
DIGITAL BADGES & CERTIFICATES
The validation students receive throughout their coursework keeps them on track toward their goals and amplifies your program’s success. Keeping students engaged and accomplished in the skills they are learning keeps them motivated and confident in their ability to find work and build a new, positive life. As they move through Reentry Essentials, they'll earn digital badges or certificates to make their new skills a rewarding experience.
